Galymzhan Balabek sets Kazakhstan record in Tashkent
At the Swimming World Cup in Tashkent, Kazakhstan’s Galymzhan Balabek swam 400 m freestyle in 3:47.13, improving his own national record.

The Swimming World Cup stop in Tashkent began with a new national record for Kazakhstan. On 8 October, Galymzhan Balabek completed the men’s 400 m freestyle in 3:47.13, bettering the mark he already held.
A new mark in the 400 m freestyle
Qazaq Aquatics reports that Balabek improved his previous national record of 3:47.52 by 0.39 seconds. The performance came on the opening day of the Tashkent stage of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2026.
The record is a personal milestone for the swimmer and a notable result for Kazakhstan on the international short-course circuit.
The World Cup moves along the Silk Road
This year’s Swimming World Cup visits three cities in consecutive weeks: Baku on 1–3 October, Tashkent on 8–10 October and Astana on 15–17 October. The Kazakhstan capital will host the final stop of the series.
Balabek’s record in Tashkent adds a Kazakhstan achievement to a competition hosted by Uzbekistan, just before the World Cup moves on to Astana.
